I share with you a statement endorsed by 89 organisations from 48 countries, including my organisation, Diverse Voices and Action for Equality, in Fiji. Around the world, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender people and others with diverse sexual orientation and gender identities are targets of brutal physical and psychological violence.
The Queer Caucus is made up of and open to queer lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transgender, two-spirit, intersex, queer and questioning identified social work faculty and students and their allies in Canada. Founded inthe Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Caucus LGBT Caucus is the principal association of lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and gay men and women within the American Political Science Association and an important arena for the presentation of research on the interaction of sexual identity, theory and political behavior. There are currently over members of the caucus from the United States and Canada, as well as Australia and several nations of the European Union. All academically affiliated social scientists, practitioner political scientists, and graduate students interested in the goals of the caucus are welcome to join.
American Psychoanalytic Foundation The American Psychoanalytic Foundation is dedicated to the advancement of psychoanalysis through community outreach, education, research, and clinical programs. Its website summarizes a public forum on homophobia held in conjunction with its Committee on Issues of Homosexuality. The Public Interest Policy unit actively engages in shaping federal policy to promote psychology in the public interest.

We are subjected to harassment, assault and discrimination in the global North and South alike. When people are persecuted because of their real or perceived sexual orientation, gender expression or gender identity, they will be forced to recede, go underground, forfeit privacy and personal and family safety, even as they resist, organize and fight for justice at great personal risk in the North and South alike. The criminalization of adult consensual sexual activity and our communities, along with efforts by political and religious authorities to manipulate and stoke fears about sexual orientation and gender identity, only makes matters worse.
