Dom Care is offered as an alternative to assisted living. Under Dom Care, the person in need of care moves into the home of a caregiver, who is over the age of 21, and receives care assistance in their home. The individual in need of care is referred to as the Dom Care Resident and the caregivers are called Dom Care Providers.
Call them adult foster homes, board and care homes, residential homes, group or adult care homes. Regardless of the moniker, these small-setting, family-like environments blend neatly into local communities, and are a viable housing option for older adults who may need help with daily living basics, but not the clinical care or amenities of traditional assisted living facilities and nursing homes. Families then often face a sudden dilemma: they cannot move the person in with them, but institutional care is not necessary.
